The musical compositions of Richard Burdick

Opus 132:

64 duets for two horn

January 2004 - August 2008

I consider my most successful composition to be my "Planets for solo horn, opus 19" because of this popular piece, I have written my "more than 64 solos for horn, opus 139" Following the writing of the solos, I went ahead with the 64 duets, I don't know why the opus numbers are sort of mixed up, especially when there are still two duets to finish as I write this in early August 2008. I have the whole set recorded, except # 50 & 60, and am now re-recording them in one-takes. One of my big projects for this season is recording all of my horn ensemble music, with a CD of the Best of and a audio DVD of the complete!

The revised version of the sheet music and CD volume one is available.
Volume one is Duets 1-34 and is sold with the one-takes recording.

$15.00

The old versions are discontinued.

Starting September 14th 2008 I will be posting a new duet each week. I will do this in order 1 through 64 (plus the extra one) for a total of sixty-five weeks!

November 30th starts the fiftieth week! (the weeks are back to one week long, being changed sometime on Mondays, I will no longer be posting the sheet music, you'll need to buy the books when they come out. Even strange composers need to be supported.)

The recording is me (Richard Burdick) in a multi-track recording.
The recordings I am posting will all be without any splices.
I am working on non-stop "one-take" recordings.
This is for two reasons: 1) I am still working on being a better horn player, and trying to play non-stop through the duets flawlessly is the sort of challenge I need.
2)I want to prove that the duets can be played, sometimes only after hard work, sometime quite easily.

Richard Burdick performs his fiftieth duet from his horn duets, opus 132
in a non-stop one-take recording! (One take for each part!)

If your are enjoying these, please consider buying a copy of the music, or let me know if you want a CD when it comes out.

Volume #1 (1-34) Can be found in the Canadian Music Center Libraries.
