Opus 171

Meditation and Dance
on I Ching No. 13: Scattered (1:40)

for solo with tape
or quartet and tape
or quartet with vibraphone, tubular bells, alto metalphone and tape
on the tape is a symbolic use of the basic sound waves: sine, sine, saw, and square

This short period of work was primarily done in the fall 2010, I had a few days of sitting in airports where I wrote these Meditation & Dance pieces. They are primarily 7 instrumental tracks in my version 3 micro-tonal I Ching scale set.

This is the second in a series of microtonal works based on the micro-tonal version of the I Ching scales (version 3). I have one CD from this microtonal period (CD28). I quickly aborted my work in this direction since it is quite weird, and will virtually never get performed. This microtonal system was important in the process of organizational for my set five of the I Ching Scales
