VISTAS

Richard Burdick's compositions with film.

VISTA-ZERO "Pyramids of scales" for horn with audio-video film
(work in progress August 2009 and still in Progress August 2010 - I seem to be stuck with the desire to animaate the still images - - - TBA)

I recently discovered one of very very earliest works with my I Ching scales (version one). It is a work intended for organ, but this version is for film, prerecorded horns and horn solo.

VISTA-ONE "The morning star" for horn and ????

VISTA-TWO. opus 166 I "Frozen" for horn with video tape

The video is complete, I have been spending too much time playig my horn and not enough recording the background tracks for this work (work in progress August 2010).

VISTA-THREE - "The Cave" I have some great footage from two years of visits to the Lava Tube in Oregon . . (work in Progress) A comission wuold speed this up . . .

Diary like comments about the progress of Vistas:

July 2009
At this point I will be completing a number of unfinished projects and starting my "Vistas."
I am starting a new opus set for the Vistas, this is so I can eventually complete a set of 64 and keep track of them in a logical way. That is on my visas will not be in the opus list, but in its own" V" list.

August 2009
My I ching rhythm studies, which will be an essential part of these works is progressing very well.

I have learned the word: Aureate, which means gold-colored, and is related to other words that inherit a
bit of the Latin word for gold: dorado and oriole (AU=gold) This will make a nice title for a future Vista.
